Widescreen Events

Widescreen at it's core is a very simple concept. The bigger the better! More space for larger, clearer content, more room for action, more real-estate for more information.

Screens of fifteen or thirty metres in length are a mainstay of our repertoire. We've been known to commission uniquely shaped screens such as speech bubbles, multi-window widescreens and curved panels custom-fitted to windows, as seen in the Auckland Museum Event Centre.

Using mirrors and our precision alignment technology we make widescreen projection possible in a small space. Our studio is well versed producing content for the largest and the strangest of screens, and relish working with new concepts and challenges.

Japan Diamond Forum '10

Set in the pristine backdrop of Queenstown, Amway Japan needed an equally impressive screen size. The awards show took place at the Marquee of the Hills Golf Course in Arrowtown.

With limited space the team at Spyglass were able to create a rear projection screen using mirrors and our highend playback system. The show featured high definition animation and video showcasing New Zealand along with a live camera and keynote presentations.

Toyota Dealer Awards '09

A stellar night honouring the stars of Toyota New Zealand.

We expanded our curved screen in the Auckland Museum Event Centre to 30m for use as a motion video backdrop.

Toyota asked for full control of the content, which is unusual for a show of this size. Our solution was dual high-definition PowerPoint blended with our video backdrop using a Vista Spyder. This way, presenters had remote control of slides while the continuous wrap-around effect was preserved.

Dub Module - 50th Birthday Party

The Dub Module and The Darkroom put together over two hours of vibrant motion content for this waterfront blow out. We converted hundreds of gigabytes of data into a format suitable for playback on the extra-wide screen, programmed and operated the show.

Toyota Dealer Awards

In search of something a little different for Toyota's seasoned event-going dealers, we designed this unique rear-projection screen set-up. A scattering of small 'windows' spans the stage, flanked by large 16x9 screens for primary content.

Driven by Watchout, we have absolute control over the content, running media across its entirety, or treating it as individual screens, each with their own timeline.

This screen is unique to Spyglass. Talk to us about using it for your next big event.

Action Asia Business Summit

Branding agency Maxim Group came to us with a virtual multi-screen idea which we animated and laid up to create the effect of being in a hi-tech current affairs control room.

We used the Spyder to overlay lower third titles over live video windows (just like the news), preserving the overall look and feel and avoiding that jarring IMAG box effect.
